Mob of the Dead: Details

Well, Treyarch has released an all-new video describing the details of this new map. And to be honest everyone...I think this will be the best one ever. Here are some of the things this amazing map will incorporate.

  • This map is supposed to be theatrical. While things like Easter Eggs have been on Zombie maps for the better players to try, the story will incorporate even more into the game-play than ever before.

  • The HUD (Heads Up Display) has been customized just for this map. It has a rustic feel to it, with metallic numbers and icons.

  • There will be an 'After life' in this game. Little was described, but from the video it appears that you either go when you go down, or what I noticed, is a power up bar on the HUD. If you get enough kills, you get to go into 'Purgatory' where the zombies can't attack you, and where you can do special things to assist in continuing the story line.

  • A new perk called the 'Electric Cherry' has been added, this perk creates a shield of electricity every time you reload, buying you more time if you have something like the RPD or Remington, something that requires more time to reload.

  • A new Boss Zombie is appearing. This appears as a heavily armed guard, enveloped in barbed-wire. This may be the most challenging of late. This zombie can take out perks, seal-off the room to the Box, and appears to be very hard to kill. He is able to be killed by Insta-Kill, as seen in the video. He comes out along with the regular zombies, so it is unknown whether or not he comes out randomly.

  • A whole soundtrack has been put together in this map. Instead of having to unlock one song from finding pieces, multiple songs will be played based off of where you are or what part of the story you are at.

  • Multiple guns have been added, both from multiplayer, campaign, and some just for this map entirely. Out of the ones we know: LSAT is making a return. AK-47 has been added. Uzi has been added. A Tommy Gun (A modified thompson), and a few more 50s era weapons.

  • A new WONDERGUN has been added, this weapon is almost like the double-barreled shot-gun, but has four chambers. This gun can also be PACK A PUNCHED, and when shot releases several bombs which stick to the zombies, and then explode. This looks like it's going to be one of the best guns yet, a big hit for you high-round players.

  • Traps will return in this map in doorways that have circling blades, slicing through the masses of zombies. This map will also incorporate transportation, such as elevators and pulley systems.

  • Pack-A-Punch has an all new camo, which appears to be orange with grid-like patterns that move around slowly. This seems very interesting, and is very different from Die Rise. It appears that Treyarch is changing the Pack A Punch camos every map.

  • A new Power-Up is also featured, which looks like the Combat Axe from multiplayer! It bounces off the walls, and blows through zombies with ease! This appears in your HUD as a special grenade, and can be used to grab far-off Power-Ups. This may end up being extremely useful.

  • As seen by the end of the video, the crew of characters take off on their makeshift plane. It is unclear if this actually succeeds, because if this is the Easter Egg, than you actually have a way to technically 'Beat' the level. On every zombies level that has existed, besides Grief, you have not been able to win, just eventually die.

So far, this map appears to be the most ambitious yet. I have high hopes for this map, and how well it's going to turn out. Stay tuned for more information!

  1. The new Perk is called "Electric Cherry" not "Electric Chair"

  2. I don't know if you noticed but there was another trap that was an ACID trap! That looks really cool but I have no idea if the electric trap will be in this map but who cares! There's an acid trap!

    1. I haven't been a big trap user. I like to rack up the points, so I try not to use them unless I am totally screwed.

    1. Yes, but I'm not sure how that's going into play. Maybe you can actually beat the level? That'd be an interesting twist.

    2. I don't think you could actually end the game because if you could why would Treyarch put it into every bit of marketing material. I think the Easter Egg is still hidden in the game. By the way if you get a friend request from A1phaMexican69 please accept.

  8. I just played this map. Very fun and challenging, but it is very tight and that is one reason I don't like it. And the Grief is AWESOME!! IT'S GOT PHD FLOPPER!!!
